Working on active research protocols under the guidance of a faculty member, students gain experience and skills in study design, implementation, and analysis. Human and animal use issues in research are explored throughout the experience.
My N315 Directed Research project involved examining the use of alternate lecture content delivery methods for non-traditional learners. Students were given an Apple iPod to use during the course of the program, and lecture content was provided in both the traditional manner and the Podcast format. Weekly and end of project surveys were intended to identify usage patterns and gain an understanding of the role personality plays in the success of alternate lecture delivery techniques. The website created for this project was located at www.iGeekRN.com, depicted in this screenshot. Students could have subscribed to the podcast there, via the iTunes Podcast Directory feature by searching for "NI" in the podcast directory, or by typing "www.iGeekRN.com/RSS" into your favorite RSS aggregator.
