Focuses on nursing informatics and examines both theoretical and practical issues for nursing. Students develop theoretical knowledge and technology skills through laboratory application of didactic content and a real world project involving systems analysis, information specification, and project management.
My ePortfolio was completed as part of this course. See the ongoing section for information about the team web project at www.NIResource.com which is the other main activity this term. In support of these two projects I gained skills in web programming, usability, and standards. This portfolio is a testament to the level of skill I achieved, as it is heavily modified from the original template used to create it. As a result of this course, I am keenly aware of the importance of the web as a marketing tool and source of information. As such, I am working with classmates to improve and advance the cause of nursing informatics by making NIResource.com a key resource for students, practitioners, and anyone else interested in the use of technology for the improvement of our health care system. I am also active in seeking out new technologies that can help busy health care providers stay current in the face of a huge flow of relevant information.
