This final capstone seminar course is designed to help graduating students synthesize prior learning as they transition from the academic environment into new professional roles in nursing and clinical informatics. The course will simultaneously facilitate tools to assist with a new job search while focusing seminar discussion on relevant hot topics in informatics that require students to use critical and creative thinking skills that synthesize program content, clinical expertise, and personal values.
This semester has primarily consisted of forum discussions that encourage the synthesis of knowledge acquired during our program. We have also worked to finalize our electronic portfolio in anticipation of the upcoming job search. This semester will culminate in an on-campus presentation on a subject of each student's choice. I will be presenting on techniques to help busy professionals stay organized and sane in the face of busy schedules and tight deadlines. I will highlight the use of innovative technological tools that are available to facilitate professional and personal life management and strategies for using them to their fullest.
